Now, don’t get us wrong. There are some amazingly creative marriage proposals out there on the internet at the minute. However, we have to say, we were super-impressed when we came across this story. Is this the sweetest marriage proposal story ever? We don’t know about you but we’re inclined to say hell yes!
Lori Richmond, a blogger from New York, posted the following story on her blog, Two Plus Us, to mark the 9th anniversary of her hubby’s “awesomely creative (and geeky) engagement.”
How did Lori’s hubby Matthew pop the question to her? He gave Lori a Kinder Egg that had a very special surprise inside it. You can probably tell where this is going (and yes, it is as cute as it sounds).
“We were living together in Brooklyn where Kinder Surprise Eggs seemed to be sitting on the counter in every deli/grocery in our neighbourhood. It was quite common for one of us to pick one (or two) up and bring them home for each other as a little treat,” explained Lori.
Little did she know that Matthew was busy planning a special surprise for her.
“My intention was to propose to Lori at a moment in which she would NEVER expect it - a total surprise/ I knew that a little robot me holding a ring would be a pretty excellent gesture, and I knew that Lori would open a wrapped Kinder Surprise Egg without suspecting anything was odd,” said Matthew.

Matthew then set about dismantling one of the small robot Kinder Egg toys he had lying around already at home. When he found one that would easily fit back into the small plastic container that comes inside a Kinder Egg, his next challenge was to try and fit an engagement ring and some instructions into the container, stick them all inside a chocolate egg and then re-wrap the foil so it looked brand new.

Matthew included instructions on how to assemble the toy
“I painstakingly practiced cleanly unwrapping the aluminium foil wrapper and opening the chocolate eggs in a manner that would allow them to be resealed… Opening the chocolate egg was easier than I thought it would be…” said Matthew.
The entire proposal took several months to come together, however Lori had no idea whatsoever and says that the proposal came completely out of the blue.
She says that one Wednesday night, she was sitting in front of the TV when Matthew handed her the chocolate egg.
“Imagine my surprise when inside was my incredible diamond ring and the mini-Matthew robot!” she said.
“I think I was a little in shock at first, but then he did the traditional get-down-on-one-knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes,” she added.
The couple have been together for nine happy years now and have two little boys together. Cute or what?
