Speaking to MLive, the Michigan lady explained that she had no choice but to carry on without the photos.
She said: "It never crossed my mind that she wouldn’t show up."
However, when professional photographer Dana Gruszynski heard of Heather and Matt's misfortune, she stepped up to help.
She said: "I’m not married, but I’ve done my fair share of weddings – I love weddings and am a hopeless romantic.
"I can’t imagine not having a professional photographer there to capture the most important day of a bride’s life."
The Metro report that not only did Dana offer a free stylised photoshoot to the newlyweds, but unbeknownst to the couple, Dana took extra steps to recreate the entire day.
She contacted the bride's sister to round up the troops, and even had an identical cake and bouquets made up free of charge.
When the couple arrived, Dana presented Heather with her bouquet, and from there, her "second" wedding began.
"The moment they hit the corner and saw their family and friends, she lost it".
"Even Matt was tearing up. You knew it was going to be a special day."
