It was generally the X-Factor judges who decided who and how the band should be put together each year, think One Direction, Little Mix...
But this time, one band are a step ahead of the rest. They were formed just before the X-Factor auditions, giving them an extra few months to prepare before the grand finale.
British boyband The Wanted's management put the band together, and the group is already tipped to win this season's X-Factor contest.
Trio GMD3, made up of Greg West, 17, Michael Marsons, 17 and Dan Ferrari-Lane, 19, are managed by Jayne Collins, who also created the girl group The Saturdays, and wowed the judging panel of the show when they auditioned for the first time recently.
Gary Barlow said they were one of the best he had ever seen. Oooh, compliment.
It seems this could, finally, be the year of the boyband in X-Factor as another all-male act, JukeBoxx, have already impressed the judges during their audition.
When GMD3 sang the X-Factor audience erupted onto their feet, clapping and singing.
“They sang original songs and had great choreography, they could win this,” one audience member said afterwards.
Another said they were the “stand-out act”.
JukeBoxx are managed by Spice Girls creator Chris Edwards, who was recently dropped from The X-Factor as a consultant because of his alleged involvement in the distribution of judge Tulisa Contoslavos' sex tape.
A source said; “It is fair to say there is no love lost between Tulisa and Chris. She won't be happy at the news that he still has involvement with the show.”
