Pat Shortt and Co. may have scrapped rumours that they are to return to RTÉ but the funnyman said that Killinaskully The Movie may be produced in the future.
Although Pat said he is unlikely to return to RTÉ due to budget cuts, he revealed that the cast is considering bringing the small town back to life for fans throughout the country.
According to The Irish Sun, Pat said: “It’s funny, I met Paraic Breathnach, who played Jacksie Walsh in Killinaskully at a funeral recently and he was saying how he’d love to do it all again.
“Killinaskully was an expensive project so from the point of view of TV, it’s not a runner for RTÉ.
“We did it during the boom years when there was some money in TV but now RTÉ couldn’t finance it.

Is Killnaskully set to return to the big screen?
“But there has been an interest in doing a film and we’re talking about that at the moment – we need the right script and lots of other things need to be in place but a movie could happen,” he said.
“I was out in RTÉ talking about a couple of other projects that I’m excited about but they won’t appear until next year,” he revealed.
Her.ie isn’t so sure we’re excited about the return of the show. We kind of wish Killinaskully was not in the habit of repeating itself, or so Mrs. Gilhooley would say.
Would you be excited about Killinaskully The Movie?
