1. Rodrigo Santoro
Talented Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro has appeared a variety of successful films including Love Actually, 300, Che and I Love You Phillip Morris. Apart from appearances on the big screen, he was also a series regular on the television series Lost portraying the character Paulo. Rodrigo has won several awards for his acting work, winning nine as Best Actor for Brazilian drama Bicho de Sete Cabeças.
2. Francisco Lachowski
Brazilian fashion model Francis grew up in was born in Curitiba and grew up in Foz do Iguaçu. His modelling career began at the age of 17 and in 2008 he won the “Supermodel of the World” title in São Paulo. From there he was awarded a contract with the prestigious Ford Models and began doing runway shows for designers like Gucci and Dior Homme. Since then he has appeared on several magazine covers and high fashion editorials with his success continuing to grow.
3. Pelé
We had to include this Brazilian football legend on our list. Pelé is largely regarded by many football pundits, fans and players as one the best players of all time. In 1999, he was voted World Player of the Century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics and the same year, he was elected the Football Player of the Century by France Football magazine. Not only that but the impressive footballer was elected “Athlete of the Century” by the IOC and in 2013 he received the FIFA Ballon d’Or Prix d’Honneur.
4. Wagner Moura
Acclaimed Brazilian actor Wagner Moura achieved international fame for his portrayal of Captain (later Colonel) Roberto Nascimento, of the highly successful 2007 film Elite Squad and its sequel, Elite Squad: The Enemy Within. In 2013, he gained recognition globally for playing “Spider” in sci-fi film Elysium. Besides his acting career, Moura also sings and is part of a band named Sua Mãe.
5. Kaká
Brazilian midfielder Kaká started his footballing career at the very young age of eight, when he began playing for a local club. At the age of 15 he signed his first professional football contract with Sao Paulo FC, joining AC Milan in 2003 for a fee of €8.5 million. In 2007 Kaká won the prestigious Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year. After four seasons at Real Madrid he returned to Milan in 2013. Selected for the victorious Brazilian team in 2002 for the World Cup, he has been an international player since 2002.
