22-Year-Old Woman Dies After Tumour Mistaken for Pregnancy

Cassie Delaney

Tributes have flooded in for the family of a “bubbly, positive and cheerful” 22-year-old who died from an aggressive form of cancer.

Demi Wright was admitted to a maternity ward when an undiscovered tumor began emitting hormones, leading medics to believe the mass was a pregnancy.

Sadly Demi was actually suffering from terminal adenocarcinoma, which was quickly spreading around her body.

As doctors investigated, they discovered a 12cm growth and Demi was quickly transferred to Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge. After only three weeks, Demi sadly passed away.

Mum Roz and Dad Chris have been “overwhelmed” by the condolence sent to the family.

Speaking to their local paper, The Gazette, Chris said:

“She didn’t have a bad bone in her body. She had an infectious, beautiful smile and it showed her personality off.

“It’s been devastating.

“When we found out it was terminal, she lifted herself up, she patted the bed and said, ‘dad, come and sit here’.

“She gave me a big hug and said, ‘it’s going to be okay’.

“The next day, she passed away.”

Demi’s boyfriend Mitch Gregory said:

“We feel robbed.

“It needs to be stressed how much courage she had. She’s our inspiration now.”

The family have already raised an excess of £3,000 for cancer research. Donations are accepted here.
