There’s a new study which aims to prove that there is a connection between what type of pill you’re on and how much sex you have.

According to Cosmo, as part of the study, researchers in Norway asked 275 female college students, who were on a pill and also in a relationship, about their sex lives.

The questions varied from how often they had sex, how invested they were in the relationship and what type of birth control they used.

The study found that women who were in a committed relationship and were on a pill that has lots of progestin and lower doses of estrogen were having more sex. Pills which fall under this bracket are the mini-pill.

In comparison, those who used a pill with more estrogen and less progestin were having sex but they weren’t as invested in the relationship.

The reason for the difference could be because of estrogen causing a peak around ovulation, which naturally gives an urge to have sex rather than doing it purely for the bond with your partner.

Whereas progestin causes a peak when conception isn’t possible so it’s more frequent throughout the month.

The study has been published in Evolution & Human Behavior.
