Woman Contracted Flesh Eating Bacteria From Wearing a Hair Tie on Her Wrist

We're ALL guilty of doing this

Cassie Delaney

A US woman was rushed into surgery after a contracting a flesh-eating bacteria from a hair tie worn on her wrist. Audree Kopp first noticed something was wrong when a lump appeared on her wrist.

At first she thought the slight lump was a result of spider bite but she grew concerned when the size of the lump increased. Her doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics but the lump kept growing.

It turned out the lump was a serious life threating infection. Audree explains that she was wearing a glitter hair tie that scrapped her skin and an infection entered. She visited A&E and was admitted for surgery.

Audree says she was lucky not to have sepsis. In other incidences the body has been known to shut down resulting in a coma. Audree took to Facebook to warn other women.
