Colon cancer has seen an alarming rise worldwide, with experts warning that lifestyle may be playing a big part in its rise.
It's one of the most common types of cancer in the UK, with young people being particularly affected.
Diet has long been known to lead to increased risk of cancer, with alcohol and red meat being known to increase risks.
However, now an oncologist has shared which foods in particular he believes can be some of the biggest factors behind colon cancer diagnoses, via LADBible.
Instagram user @mikestartegy1 shared a testimonial from the doctor, who said that after 17 years of experience, he found one common factor in '80 per cent' of patients.
"I cut bellies every day. I see the result of decades of bad food," the oncologist said.
The food group in question that is said to be in '80 per cent' of colon cancer cases seen by the oncologist is processed meats, including sausages, hot dogs and smoked meats.
The World Health Organisation classified processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen, alongside asbestos, tobacco and alcohol.
Dr Tim Titutan told GB News that processed meat did increase the risk of cancer: "Processing meat, such as through curing, smoking, salting, or chemical preservation, results in the formation of carcinogenic chemicals called Noc and Pah.
"A study was done showing that eating 50 grams of processed meat a day increased, the risk of colorectal cancer by 18 percent
"I am not vegetarian, but I do make conscious decisions to lower the amount of processed meat I eat."
The NHS lists the signs of bowel cancer as including:
