Doctors have described the case as one of "divine providence".

A Florida mother has made a miraculous recovery after going 45 minutes without a pulse.

Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro suffered complications after delivering her child by caesarean section.

A team of doctors worked on the woman for three hours after she endured a rare amniotic fluid embolism following the birth.

Remarkably, after doctor’s called the 40-year-old’s mother, husband and sister into the operating room to say there was nothing more they could do, Ruby’s heart began to beat again.

Sppkesman for Boca Raton hospital Thomas Chakurda said: “We had called a code that lasted for three hours. She essentially spontaneously resuscitated when we were about to call the time of death.”

Despite the length of time she was without a pulse, Ms Graupera-Cassimiro suffered no brain damage and doctors have said she is “the picture of health”.

Mr Chakurda added that the case was one of “divine providence”.
