Don’t put an ice lolly in your vagina to cool off during heatwave, warns doctor

... in case you needed to be told.

Anna O'Rourke

Gals, don’t be putting ice pops inside your vaginas.

The country is currently in the grip of a heatwave and while the good weather is welcome, it can be a bit much for some.

People are turning to the internet for advice on keeping cool but one viral tip doing the rounds that you really shouldn’t follow is to put an ice pop inside your yoni.

It should seem obvious but things happen.

Your vagina is a sensitive cavity and you should take care with how you treat it, says Dr Sarah Welch.

She makes the point that you could do permanent harm to yourself by following this ‘trick’.

“There are many things that should never go near a vagina, and ice lollies are up there,” she told Metro.

“The ice can stick to the delicate skin of the vagina and cause real trauma and damage.

“What’s more, putting any foodstuff inside your vagina can introduce microbes, disrupting its normal balance and allowing an environment for bacteria to grow and infections to develop.”

Yeah, getting a nasty case of thrush really doesn’t seem worth it.

So how can you be kind to your vagina as temperatures soar?

Wear cotton knickers, change your clothes and pyjamas regularly and shower as often as possible to keep sweat from building up.

And again, just to reiterate, no ice pops.
