WATCH: Here’s How Astronauts Cook In Space

Thanksgiving is approaching in the US, McDonalds have released their festive menu and we’re already daydreaming about our Christmas food babies. It’s pretty safe to say that food is on the brain. But spare a thought for those who may be working over the holidays and who won’t get a chance to enjoy the stuffing, turkey and ham. Imagine spending the holidays in space. Well, for workers on the International Space Station, that’s the unfortunate reality. And while we may spend the day slaving a way in the kitchen, they’ll be eating rehydrated meals. The International Space Station shared a video this week on Facebook, detailing just how the astronauts would prepare their food. First they use a rehydrate machine to inject water into airtight packages, before allowing the food to rehydrate for 15-20. Then, cutting open the plastic, they eat. We’ll stick to the potato croquettes thanks. But hey, at least there’s no cleaning up.
