Outrage After Creme Egg Recipe Change Causes Sales To Plummet

Creme Eggs are a stalwart of the Easter confectionery scene. They have always been iconic and delicious.   That is until Cadbury parent company Mondelez changed the recipe in 2015, causing massive outrage among fans of the gooey delights. It looks like this anger has translated into a drop in sales for the chocolate giant. The harsh truth was revealed in a report from The Grocer Magazine obtained by The Independent: 'Creme Eggs were the biggest loser with filled egg sales down 7% and shell eggs down 11%.' In January 2015, the recipe change was widely reported and derided by the media. The Guardian wrote: 'No longer shall the egg shell be made from delicious Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. It will instead be made from disgusting, foul, vomit-inducing “standard cocoa mix chocolate”.' People took the opportunity to give out to Cadbury on Twitter about what they feel is a fatal error on their part.
