If you want to have more energy and keep active this winter, then here are a few tips on how you can stock up and get the fuel you require from the foods you eat.
My first tips are two easy foods to add to your daily diet. They are packed with nutritional goodness to keep you healthy and buzzing with energy, and they will provide you with positive long-lasting energy and balanced sugar levels compared to those you get after eating processed foods that give you quick sugar rushes.
It's simple; when your body has been sufficiently filled with better healthy foods the benefits are incredible - positive heart health and better digestive system, increased stamina and a happier more well-balanced you!
Brown Rice
Brown rice is one of the best carbohydrates options you can eat.
It's a slow energy-releasing food so it will supply your body with energy for a long duration. It's filling, wholesome and can be used to accompany most types of meals.
Brown rice is also said to contribute to lowering your blood pressure and also helps in the prevention of heart disease. It's a great source of fibre, high in B vitamins, calcium, iron & folic acid. If I haven’t already sold it enough – brown rice is also a great calming food for the nervous system if you're feeling under stress! So swap the spuds or chips every now and again and start to feel the benefits.
Oats
Oats make for a great wholesome way to start the day. They’re low-fat and packed with energy calories. There’s nothing like starting the morning with a bowl of healthy porridge oats with some fresh fruit thrown in.
Oats are versatile and tasty. They can be eaten as muesli or cooked as porridge. Add some flavour by sprinkling on your yoghurt or why not bung it all into the blender and create your own groovy muesli smoothie!
Remember oats are also a slow releasing energy food, supplying you with energy right through to lunch with no crashing, and again helping to keep your blood sugar levels balanced. They contribute to good skin, are again high in fibre and help stimulate the digestive system.
Oats contain calcium, which as we all know is great for your bones and connective tissue, and are also full of iron and Folic acid.
So now you know, stock up now and stay energetic and active throughout your day!
Enjoy
