Eating this vegetable is said to reduce stress

Megan Roantree

Load up on this over the busy Christmas period.

It’s seem as though in society today we are all stressed a lot of the time. Between work or school and managing time, finances and every other aspect of your life, it’s easy to see why we’re always so stressed.

Exercise such as yoga is said to be good for stress, but there are also foods you can eat to reduce those stress levels.

Some experts recommend upping your cauliflower intake.

If you’re like me, it’s not often added to your plate and is one of those vegetables that you never really think about.

But it turns out that cauliflower is pretty special.

The vegetable is actually a high source of vitamin C. And while we usually associate vitamin C with boosting the immune system, it’s also an incredibly important nutrient for stress as well.

According to Mind Body Green our adrenal glands, which are nestled on top of our kidneys, are in charge of our stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline as well as producing sex hormones and chemical messengers that regulate blood pressure.

”Vitamin C is stored in high concentrations in the adrenal glands, and when we’re feeling stressed, we burn through that vitamin C like it’s nobody’s business”

Eating cauliflower can help you replace the vitamin C you lose so your adrenal glands will continue to function optimally.

So while cauliflower is one unexpected stress aid, really any fruit or vegetables high in vitamin C can help, so oranges, peppers, broccoli and so on.
