Is the everything shower actually good for you?

The everything shower trend went viral on social media years ago, but it is one trend that has lived on long after the trending TikToks.

Dermatologist Jenny Liu recently told Allure that having a shower longer than 15 to 20 minutes can cause skin issues, especially if the water is too hot.

She explained, "Prolonged exposure strips the skin of its natural lipids and disrupts the barrier, which can lead to dryness, irritation, and flare-ups of conditions like eczema."

Jenny Liu explained that your shower water should feel comfortably warm, but it should not be steamy or stinging.

She explained that your shower should typically be between five and ten minutes long, and the water should be hot enough to turn your skin pink, but not red.
