A charity in Norway has come under fire after using a giant penis as part of a campaign on sexual transmitted diseases.
A 19-year-old student was dressed up as a penis for the stunt which saw him creep up behind unsuspecting bystanders and spraying them with confetti.
According to Mirror Online, the tagline for the stunt was “Tiss kan overraske” which means either ‘penis can surprise you’.
However, the campaign received a mixed response, with a member of the advertising agency who produced a video for the campaign saying that some people found it “banal and idiotic”.
“Sex should be fun, exciting and a little naughty. We wanted the campaign to reflect that. The campaign mostly found favour, and people understood the humour in our message, although many, especially those over 30, thought the campaign was pointless and some went so far as to brand it banal and idiotic.”
The campaign hopes to encourage the use of condoms as new figures have shown that almost 23,000 Norwegians contract chlamydia every year.
