When you’re a parent, it can be hard to squeeze in time to eat never mind exercise. But did you know that you could be burning some serious calories with your everyday tasks?
According to the Livestrong website, certain daily activities could actually be giving you a mini workout.
That’s not to say that you shouldn’t try to find time to do a class or go for a walk if you can, however it is pretty interesting to know.
One of the best tasks for burning off a few calories is cleaning the house. While this depends on how in-depth you go, i.e. whether you hoover and mop, it is said to shed up to 330 calories per hour.
While you might hate the thought of heading to the supermarket, pushing that trolley around and loading it with heavy items during the weekly shop can also shift up to 260 calories per hour.
Another good task that burns close to 300 calories is bathing/feeding and playing with the kids (which is only going to increase with the summer evenings).
Of course, these figures all depend on your weight and how long you are performing the tasks for. Still, it makes us feel less guilty about not getting to the gym!
