Pizza is ruined.
Pizza has to be one of the nicest takeaways. It’s quick to order, there are lots of varieties and it’s so tasty. The best part has to be the cheese, especially when they are over generous with the amount.
This is what we would have thought anyway… until now.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it turns out that you’re probably eating fake cheese on your takeaway pizza. According to Metro, a study found that a substantial amount of takeaway companies were using fake cheese instead of the real cheese.
As bizarre as it sounds, the ‘cheese’ they use looks and tastes exactly like cheese but it’s made up of non-dairy fat and oil that imitates the real thing.
The study consisted of 40 different pizzas being sampled from takeaways across Warwickshire in England and found that one in four were topped with fake cheese.
Furthermore, the takeaways that were actually using cheese were opting for more cheddar than mozzarella to save money.
And it’s not just cheese which is being faked. Other products which were found to be sold as something they’re not included ham and pepperoni. Ham was made up of cured turkey while pepperoni had beef and chicken in them.
Everything we once thought about our favourite takeaway is a lie.
