We all love bees, we all love apples...well, did you ever stop to think that without bees there would be no apples! Pollinators, and notably bees, play an essential part in the pollination of apple blossom and their transformation into fruit. To make sure effective pollination occurs, Pink Lady® growers work in close collaboration with professional beekeepers. The Pink Lady® Europe association created the Bee Pink® programme in partnership with experts from the agricultural and beekeeping spheres, with a view to sharing best arboricultural practices, to protect bees and ensure that effective pollination occurs, while reconciling the needs of apple growers and beekeepers. Bee Pink® is a win-win partnership, since it ensures  both a healthy hive for the beekeeper and successful pollination for the apple grower. At its heart, Bee Pink® is an awareness programme aimed at Pink Lady® growers. In partnership with Tesco, the project is centred around achieving the best orchard practices and protecting the bees that are responsible for the delicious produce that we all love. This is achieved through awareness days and the creation and distribution of a guide that contains technical knowledge, research, regulations and advice. The success of this partnership lies both in the hive’s healthy development for the beekeeper and the respect of the apple grower’s needs. Together they decide on the conditions that will best facilitate the bee’s work. This partnership is all about the conservation of bees in orchards so that they can continue to do their job to deliver the best quality fruit to the masses. So, how can you help?
