X Factor hopeful Jake Sims has apparently apologised to show bosses after allegedly tweeting about taking and selling drugs.

The 19-year-old from Bristol, who is in boy band Stereo Kicks, is said to have made a number of references to cannabis and cocaine in tweets he sent before auditioning for the singing competition.

A source told The Sun newspaper that while some of the references were actually song lyrics, Jake regrets the tweets.

“Jake is not proud of how he’s behaved and in no way wants to let his fans or band mates down. He accepts how stupid his behaviour was and wants to put it behind him.”

The insider explained: “The tweets about crack are actually a reference to song lyrics. Jake has never smoked or sold crack.”

The singer’s Twitter account has since been deleted and he has reportedly apologised to ITV bosses. A spokesperson for X Factor said that it does not condone the use of drugs and that “appropriate action will be taken against any contestant found to be taking drugs.”
