Fans of Garden State, your perfect summer movie might well be on the way.
Ten years after the release of his critically-acclaimed directorial debut, Braff double-jobs once more, taking the lead role and the director’s chair for Wish I Was Here.
Billed as a “funny, touching, universal story of what it means to be at a major crossroads as a parent, spouse, and child – all at once”, the screenplay was penned by Zach and his bother Adam.
Wish I Was Here sees Braff play Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor trying to find his purpose in life. The movie also stars Kate Hudson and Mandy Patinkin. The trailer also sees Braff’s former Scrubs co-star and real-life bestie Donald Faison make an appearance.
The film was partly financed through a Kickstarter campaign, which raised over $3m following almost 50,000 fan donations. The soundtrack includes songs from The Shins, Bon Iver, Cat Power & Coldplay and Radical Face.
Wish I Was Here is set for cinemas this July.
