The BBC has confirmed that Judy Murray, the mother and coach of tennis player Andy Murray, will partake in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
After months of rumours and following the announcement that Saturdays star Frankie Sandford would be among the line-up, the broadcaster tweeted the news today.
They wrote: “Look who’s set for Strictly. The lovely Judy Murray @judmoo, that’s who. Serve-en! [sic]”.
Speaking about the show, Judy revealed: “I’m a huge Strictly Come Dancing fan but a total armchair dancer. It’s going to be a big challenge for me and for whoever has to dance with me but I absolutely can’t wait to get started!”
The 54-year-old is the second celebrity to be confirmed for this year’s series. Other names in the frame include former reality star Mark Wright, MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace and television presenter Helen Skelton.
