Sitcom Star Tipped as the New Host of The Late Late Show

A surprising choice, perhaps?

Rebecca McKnight

Actor James Corden will succeed Craig Ferguson as the host of CBS late night talk show The Late Late Show, it has been reported.

The comedy star is widely tipped to take over from Scottish broadcaster Ferguson, who announced earlier this year that he was stepping down from the position.

Corden shot to fame in 2007 thanks to hugely successful BBC show Gavin and Stacey, which he penned with co-star Ruth Jones.

He is not quite as well known in the US, but did win a coveted Tony award for his role in the Broadway production of One Man, Two Guvnors.

Since 2010 Corden has hosted the Sky1 sports panel show A League Of Their Own.

Craig Ferguson has hosted the US show, which shares its name with Ireland’s most well-known chat show, since 2005.
