Prison Break and its leading stars are making a comeback next year, Fox has confirmed.
Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will reprise their roles as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows in the rebooted series which will pick up seven years after the events of the finale which saw Michael killed off.
The news was confirmed by Fox bosses Dana Walden and Gary Newman, and will see executive producer Paul Scheuring lead the 10 episode project.
For fans of the show who are questioning how Michael can make a return to the show (*spoiler – he was killed off in the series finale), the show have plans to answer the chance in events in the opening scenes.
Speaking at TCA, CEO Dana Walden said:
“I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show.
“The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don’t think [executive producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience.”
“What [Scheuring] pitched to us was a very logical and believable — in the world of ‘Prison Break‘ — explanation for why our characters are alive and still moving around the world.”
The popular drama ran from 2005 to 2009, with the new season planned for airing in 2016.
