Was Connors speaking out of turn, or does he have inside knowledge of a revival that has yet to be officially announced?

For years, fans of Love/Hate have been hoping for the return of the iconic Irish crime drama.

The series, which originally aired between 2010 and 2014, gained a devoted following and introduced a new generation of viewers to its gritty storytelling when it was made available on streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and RTÉ Player.

Speculation about a revival has continued ever since, and now actor John Connors has added fuel to the fire with an exciting revelation.

Connors, who played Patrick Ward in the series, recently appeared on Virgin Media’s Six O’Clock Show, where he was asked about the possibility of Love/Hate making a comeback

Without hesitation, he confirmed that the show is indeed returning, stating that production is set to begin this year, with a planned release next year.

He even admitted that he wasn’t supposed to reveal the news just yet, adding an element of intrigue to his announcement.

However, not long after Connors’ statement, RTÉ released a response denying any plans for a new series.

According to a spokesperson, the broadcaster has no intention of reviving the show, though all five seasons are still available to stream on RTÉ Player.

This has left fans in a state of uncertainty – was Connors speaking out of turn, or does he have inside knowledge of a revival that has yet to be officially announced?

However, Connors has since shared a video on his Instagram saying that the series will be airing on Netflix: “It’s not on RTÉ, it’s on Netflix. They’re bringing it back a bit like what they did with Top Boy.”

The actor went on to claim that season six and season seven will be released on the platform.

One thing is certain and that is; Love/Hate remains one of the most beloved Irish TV series of all time.

It not only captivated audiences with its gripping storytelling but also helped launch the careers of several major actors, including Barry Keoghan.

Whether Connors’ latest revelation turns out to be accurate or just wishful thinking, the speculation surrounding Love/Hate refuses to die down.
