Jeremy Clarkson has taken to Twitter tonight to express his regret at the end of his tenure on Top Gear.

The long-time host of the hit motorist show was fired earlier this year for assaulting a producer, with Chris Evans set to take over his position.

As his last episode went to air on BBC tonight, Clarkson took to Twitter to say how “sad and sorry” he was to be leaving the show behind.

It has been rumoured that Clarkson is set to join former co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond to launch a rival to Top Gear, although no further details have been confirmed.
