Well, we didn’t see this coming.
So, apparently Jennifer Aniston’s new Murder Mystery has had a record-breaking start on Netflix!
It began streaming on June 14 and within three days had been watched from nearly 31 million accounts.
The streaming service announced the news in a tweet, writing:
“ADAM SANDLER AND JENNIFER ANISTON BREAKING NEWS ALERT!”
“30,869,863 accounts watched Murder Mystery in its first 3 days – the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix Film. 13,374,914 accounts in the US and Canada, and 17,494,949 more worldwide.”
Pretty impressive, in fairness.

The synopsis for the film reads:
“A New York cop and his wife go on a European vacation to reinvigorate the spark in their marriage. A chance encounter leads to them being framed for the murder of an elderly billionaire.”
The film stars Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, and Luke Evans – three massive names in Hollywood.
It has been a pretty whopper 12 months for Netflix, the world’s most popular streaming service.
Ben Affleck’s action movie Triple Frontier was watched by more than 52 million accounts in its first month on site.
WOW.
The famous Fyre Festival documentary (which was ace btw) was watched by more than 20 million in the first four weeks.
The Umbrella Academy was viewed 45 million households in its first month.
So yeah, Netflix are having a great time.
