Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock has spoken out about the upcoming drama involving his character Marlon Dingle and his fiancé Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).
The onscreen couple are set to tie the knot next week but (as with a lot of soap weddings) not everything is going to go to plan. In fact, both the bride and groom confess to kissing their respective exes on the morning of the nuptials.
Charnock told Digital Spy: “On the day of the wedding, Laurel finds Marlon sat at Donna’s grave, just staring into space. She’s had enough at this point, so she walks back to the house and Marlon also goes back to join her.
“It feels like they’ve reached the end of their relationship, so they have this very long conversation. Laurel is in her wedding dress and they spend a lot of time talking about what they’re doing and whether this is the end.”
He added: “They both agree that neither of these kisses meant anything. They want to make their relationship work, but there are so many situations that are stopping it from working properly. It’s a mess, but it’s confessing their respective kisses to each other which helps them see a way through that.”
As for whether they manage to patch things up, that’s anyone’s guess. Charnock revealed: “They believe that they’re right for each other, but there are so many elements that could pull the rug from under them… I don’t know whether they’ll get through it – who knows?”
