He added that he is hopeful both of the lead stars would return for the sequel.
He told USA Today:
“I’m already conceiving the story with [author] André Aciman. “It’s gonna happen five or six years afterwards, so almost in the 1990s.” “It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone. “You’re gonna see a lot of the East Coast of America… They’re gonna go around the world.”
There's no filming date set - yet - as they still have to finalise the script before thinking of when filming would begin.
But the director gushed about filming the first movie, and how the cast became like a "huge family".
He added:
"Apart from the fact that it rained for 28 days out of 30 of (shooting) — so it was very humid — we had a great time. "It was wonderful, 'cause it was really like a family, a huge family being together for long holiday. It was great."
