Fans of the couple were shocked to hear their long-term relationship was over, but an insider has shed some light on why they broke up.

A source said there were many underlying issues in their relationship before they decided to call things off in December.

The main issue was Zara never feeling like she was as important to Sam as he was to her.

Sam's career had taken off after his stint on I'm A Celeb which caused them to drift apart.

An insider told The Sun that they were clashing a lot before they eventually called it quits.

"Zara never felt like she was the priority with Sam. He always seemed to find someone or something to put before her,"

“They are both selfish in their own right and want to be successful in business as individuals - but of course that comes at a price."

They also confirmed that Sam wasn't maturing as much and that also left Zara feeling unhappy in their relationship.

"Sam is very childish - it’s even become a part of his ‘showbiz persona’ - but Zara feels as though she’s getting older and wants to start being taken more seriously," the source said.

Zara and Sam started dating in 2019 but broke up for some time after Zara reportedly cheated on Thompson with music executive Brahim Fourad.
