The curtain came down on one of the most glittering careers in the history of UK footballers yesterday, and for David Beckham, the emotion of the occasion all became a bit too much.
Supporters watched with a lump in their throats as former England captain Becks played his final moments of professional football with Paris Saint-Germain last night.
When the time came, a few minutes before the final whistle, for Beckham to be subbed off, the entire stadium leapt to their feet, and the football legend was visibly overcome with emotion.
The display of appreciation from the crowd comes in a week where tributes have been flooding in for Beckham from all corners, including this lovely message from wife Victoria, who was seen cheering on her husband proudly last night.
Farewell Becks, thanks for the memories.
