Irish star of The Chase Darragh Ennis has hit back at a common complaint about the popular quiz show.
Ennis has been a member of the Chasers since 2021 as has assumed the nickname The Menace on the show hosted by Bradley Walsh.
The Chase sees contestants go up against the chasers in order to win a cash prize at the end, with a celebrity version following the same layout with all winnings going towards charity.
A common complaint of the celebrity version is that the contestants get questions that are too easy, however Darragh disputed this claim in a recent interview.
Speaking on the Happy Hour, Darragh addressed the misconception and explaining why celebs tend to do better than regular contestants.
"If you look at the scores and you look at the numbers, they may be slightly higher, very slightly higher," he told the hosts.
"But the selection process when you're dealing with celebs, you have a much smaller pool of people.
"There's a very large number of them who won't go on because they're so worried about their image. If they don't think they're going to be good, they won't do it.
"In the general public, there's a lot of people who know they're going to be okay or not particularly good, but they go on because they really want to go on the show, most celebs won't do that."
Darragh also explained that celebrities who appeared on the spinoff are more "confident" and aren't "shy in front of the camera".
The Chaser said that one of the most impressive celebrities he had faced was former England goalkeeper David James, who won £11,000 in cash during the individual round.
The team then went on to win the £150,000 jackpot, getting all of their questions right in the final round, with Darragh getting two wrong and failing to catch them.
