Don’t worry Rupert and Kristen, you haven’t been the first and you certainly won’t be the last. Here are eight other celebrities who played away from home but to be honest, everything forgets about it sooner or later… Well, eventually…
1. Meg Ryan
Russell Crowe seems to have left most of the bad publicity behind from this, but everyone remembers when he started hooking up with co-star Meg Ryan on the set of Proof of Life. Poor old Dennis Quaid was abandoned in favour of the Aussie Oscar winner, but the following shacking up together, the romance didn’t last long and the couple went their separate ways.
2. Rachel Weisz
Perhaps less high-profile because the fact has never been confirmed by either party, but Rachel and her co-star Daniel Craig, certainly set quite a few tongues wagging on the set of Dream House. Weisz was married to director Darren Aronofsky at the time, but the pair soon divorced and she was quickly back up the aisle with the Bond actor.
3. Matthew Vaughn
Another rumour that has never been confirmed is that director Matthew Vaughn is apparently father to January Jones’ baby, Xander. The pair met on the set of X-Men: First Class, which Vaughn directed, and when Jones announced her pregnancy, more than a few sources hinted that the director was the father. January has never confirmed the paternity of her child and Vaughn and his wife, Claudia Schiffer denied that anything had happened. Suspicious you say? Well, to add fuel to the fire, Vaughn and Jones refused to appear on any red carpets together for the film and to attend any junkets… Hmm.
4. Jude Law
Oh Jude. No one was really surprised when we heard this one, despite the fact that the actor has certainly cleaned up his act of late. Law was married to Sadie Frost when the nanny to his children, Daisy Wright, claimed she had a month long affair with the actor. Frost moved out of the couple’s house and filed for divorce and Law moved on to his co-star Sienna Miller.
5. Ronan Keating
When we heard the news that the Ronan had strayed from wife Yvonne Keating, we were really hoping the news was not true. The pair had been married for 14 years and had three children together, however it soon emerged that Ronan was having a year-long affair with dancer Francine Cornell. What was worse, apparently the affair was an open secret on tour which everyone was aware of. Keating returned home and tried to make the marriage work with his wife, but the pair has since split and moved on with other partners.
6. Tiger Woods
Woods affairs weren’t the only things that became hugely high-profile, so was his wife’s reaction who used a golf club to smash up the golfer’s car and cause a collision with a fire hydrant, a tree and some bushes. It didn’t seem to matter that Woods was married to the beautiful Swede Elin Nordegren, the reports that he had had an affair with NYC nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel were actually true. The accusations spun out of control and eventually it seemed the whole world had been with the golfing legend.
7. Bill Clinton
“I did not have sex with that woman.” Well, Bill, you did. You did have sex with that woman. Literally, the most high profile affair scandal was the announcement that the American President had engaged in an illicit act with a White House intern. What was worse was some of the affair had taken place in the White House. Somehow, Bill managed to get away with it, wife Hillary even took him back but it did spark a huge public debate and Clinton was accused of perjury.
8. Brad Pitt
Another affair that has never been confirmed by anyone involved was the quite obvious Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt love triangle. Anyone who watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith would have considered it entirely obvious that something had been going on between the pair; however both Pitt and Jolie denied any rumours. And then the worst happened, Aniston and Pitt divorced which paved the way for the future Mrs. Pitt. Perhaps the only reason we have heard so little about the entire thing is that Aniston had the good grace to not air her dirty laundry in public.
