Steve Martin was less than impressed by the veggie snacks on his flight

Filling.

We’ve all been there.

Rocking up somewhere to eat some delicious non-meat-based snacks only to find out that the place doesn’t really know what vegetarians eat.

Just this week, I found myself consuming a literal bowl of leaves as my veggie option on a night out.

In fairness, the place was literally a restaurant dedicated to beef and seafood, but still like, some carbs wouldn’t go amiss.

And while the vast majority of restaurants and eateries have gotten so much better at catering for vegetarians and vegans over the past few years, there’s always one that just doesn’t seem to have a clue.

This time it was, apparently, an airline that comedian and actor Steven Martin was flying with.

He took to Twitter to share a photo of what he was given to eat on the plane… and he was less than impressed.

So wholesome. So filling.

Nothing better than a hearty meal of crisps and plain celery to sort you out for the evening.

Delicious.

But before we get all high-and-mighty about the severe lack of veggie options this airline was serving, let’s look a little closer at the image.

Here, at the bottom of the photo, we can clearly see the beginnings of a plate of chickpea curry.

However, quickly scroll past the tweet on Twitter itself and all the casual user sees are the crisps and celery.

So either, Steve was simply commenting that crisps and celery are a weird combination to give to someone as a snack.

… Or he was chancing his arm and trying to kick up a fuss about this flight’s ‘veggie option’ without alluding to the fact that he’d also been served a literal meat-free curry too.

Either way, people on Twitter were as equally confused (or annoyed, take your pick) as he was.

They also started sharing their own pics of what they’d been given to eat as a meat-free option in the past.

This guy got some crisps and uncooked veg.

This lad, however, got all of this (albeit not on a plane). And according to him, it’s all vegan.

Sound like.

Whatever the truth, it’s no secret that in 2017, meat still reigns supreme.

And that every now and then, us veggies will just have to make do with some crisps and celery… or a bowl of leaves.

Fab.
