Sarah Silverman has paid a touching tribute to her mother Beth Ann O’Hara, who died last Wednesday.
The comedian shared a throwback snap of her mum on Twitter yesterday, accompanied by a post about the “know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks”.
Beth Ann, who produced and directed 50 plays over 25 years, was remembered by colleagues and friends following the news of her death.
Speaking about her mum, the 44-year old wrote:
“Wednesday morning my mom died. She was a know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks. And defiantly, no bra. The woman who, when I was little, gave me detailed directions to a restaurant ladies room then secretly watched as I found my way to it on my own. The woman who went back to college at 42, and skinny dipped in ponds, and told me never to protect myself from a broken heart because it was so very worth the pain to get to experience love.”

Silverman had previously presented her mum with a lifetime achievement award in 2003 at the Newhampshire Theatre Awards, telling the audience she was a “loving, nurturing, caring and colourful” woman.
