RTÉ are reportedly hoping to sign Cat Deeley up for the presenting role for the Late Late Show alongside her husband Patrick Kielty.
Patrick has become the frontrunner for the presenting gig after Claire Byrne and Sarah McInerney both bowed out of the race.
Now the favourite to be given the job, TV sources have told The Sun that the broadcaster now sees it as a “golden opportunity” to get Cat on board too.
The insider said: “There’s speculation that Patrick Kielty’s signing might pave the way for Cat Deeley to feature in some of RTE’s output, so it would be a massive win-win for them.
“She has a huge amount of star power and she’s very well connected, so everyone is very hopeful that we’ll see a string of A-list guests popping up on the Late Late as well.”
RTÉ have yet to comment on the rumours, or hint at who could be taking the job.
Kielty responded to the rumours on the IFTAs red carpet on Sunday night, and told Goss.ie: “The only thing I would say about the Late Late Show is a couple of things; One is that it is one of the greatest TV shows on the planet. Whoever gets that gig is going to be really, really lucky.
“The one thing people have to remember though, is, how big shoes they are to fill.
“You know, I’ve done a chat show before, I’ve done a live show before, it’s hard. Whenever you’ve been on the Late Late Show as a guest and sat close to Ryan, you see how he does his stuff.”
