‘I still don’t feel like I’m ready’ – Roz Purcell opens up about having children

Roz Purcell is being praised for her honesty

The author was appearing on the former Late Late Show host's podcast when she revealed she was unsure if she wanted children of her own.

She explained to Tubridy on The Bookshelf podcast:

"My mind changes all the time and also depending what week of my period I'm on - it also changes.

"I'm 34 now so it's about time really. I don't know. It's a funny one because people keep asking me this and I actually don't mind," Roz shared.

The Irish influencer said she was brought up with the idea that she didn't need to have kids so that's why she's uncertain about her decision.

"I was always brought up with the idea that... because when we were growing up we were consuming so much TV and movies about women 'finding the man' that we didn't have to find someone, we could be happy alone and we didn't have to have kids if we didn't want to," she said.

Roz acknowledged that not everyone will have the same milestones in life and there's nothing wrong with that.

"I grew up very much with that mentality that we don't have to follow the path that most people do," she shared.

Roz said part of her feels like she just ruled out having children from a young age.

She said it's something she simply can't imagine at the moment, but it may change in the future.

Roz added: "Personally, I couldn't imagine it right now. I see my friends and family with kids and it's exhausting."

Choosing to have a child is not an easy decision to make for anyone, even if society may make us feel like it's something we should do.

Roz's honesty is a breath of fresh air for those of us who are still unsure about starting a family. It's something many of us want but taking that step is another story altogether.
