Prince Harry admits he “fact checks” while watching The Crown

He’s a viewer.

Since landing on Netflix in 2016, the idea of the Royal Family sitting down to watch Peter Morgan’s The Crown has been fascinating viewers. What do they make of it? Do they object to it? Are they secretly superfans?

In the past, it was reported that Prince Edward and Sophie the Countess of Wessex watched it with the late Queen Elizabeth II, and that she “really liked” it.

It’s also been claimed that Camilla Parker Bowles is a fan, though it seems the same can’t be said about Prince William. In an interview with Olivia Colman on The Graham Norton Show, the actress said that she asked William if he watches it, and he told her that he doesn’t.

One member of the Royal Family who has no issue admitting he’s a viewer is Prince Harry.

While promoting his memoir Spare on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Harry joked that he fact checks The Crown.

“Yes, I have actually watched The Crown,” he said. “The older stuff and the more recent stuff.”

Stephen then asked if Harry “fact checks” the show as he watches, and Harry jokingly mimed taking notes with a pen and paper.

He then added, more sincerely, “Yes, I do actually.”

Harry then pointed towards his book and said that it is “so important that history has it right”.

Also this week, Harry spoke about the prospect of his children, Archie and Lili, having good relationships with his side of the family.

He told PEOPLE: “I’ve said before that I’ve wanted a family, not an institution—so of course, I would love nothing more than for our children to have relationships with members of my family, and they do with some, which brings me great joy.”
