This is not fake news.
Yep, Pete Doherty has been hospitalised because of a hedgehog.
The musician was forced to cancel an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live due to an infection he got from the spines of a hedgehog.
You honestly couldn’t make this up.
Pete actually took to instagram and twitter to share his news with followers and fans.
“Me in a hospital bed with an infected hedgehog spike wound thank you to the wonderful men and women who work within the NHS,” he wrote.
“What absolute angels and a million times they deserve our respect and thanks.”
As you can only imagine, Pete’s followers were quick to comment on the snap – and some of the comments are gas.
“That’s something you don’t hear about everyday,” wrote one rather perplexed fan.
Another said: “Y’are daft! But I bet the hedgehog is incredibly grateful eh! You have the sweetest soul!”
Others were concerned for the wellbeing of the hedgehog.
“What were you doing with the hedgehog for that to happen?! I’ve handled a lot of hedgehogs and never been spiked by one! Can you elaborate? I’m invested now. Is the hedgehog ok?!” asked one follower.
While hedgehogs’ spines are not poisonous, they can penetrate the skin and spread nasty bacteria.
Get well soon Pete, hun.
