Paul Mescal has broken his silence
Irish actor Paul Mescal has spoken out about claims he ditches his one-night stands in the park.
The rumours swirled on TikTok a couple of months ago with many people claiming the actor takes his dates on a walk and then jogs away from them.
The Normal People actor has responded to the wild claims in a new interview with GQ.
The actor said he first came across the ludicrous claims when he was spending time with his family at Christmas.
In response to the rumours, he said: “Ohhhhhhh. F***king hell!
“We were looking at the videos and we were p***ing ourselves at it. Categorically untrue,” he stressed.
“And we were laughing, laughing, laughing, laughing,” Mescal added.
However, there was one member of his family who was less than impressed with the rumours.
Mescal’s mum was upset over the claims but he quickly reassured her that it’s just the way the internet works.
“And the one thing that upset me was that I was in the kitchen, I remember my mum looking at the videos and she was getting upset.
“Isn’t that devastating? I was like, Oh, it’s funny to us – my brother, me, my sister – because we know that this is the way the internet works. It’s hilarious.”
Mescal understood that it was in his mother’s nature to defend him so she’d naturally get upset over such horrible claims.
He admitted it’s been tough protecting his personal life from the spotlight, but it’s something he’ll always keep private.
“How I am in my private life is so precious to me because I get very little of it, and it might be public interest, but it’s not public-obligated information,” he added.
