The actor’s role in We Live In Time made him look at fatherhood differently.
Garfield also said bringing a child into the world is a huge responsibility, “particularly bringing new life into the context of my life, there’s a heavy burden there”.
He previously told GQ that he is “releasing myself from the societal obligation of procreating by the time I’m 40.”
Fans of the actor have been praising him for discussing the possibility of being child-free.
One wrote: “He’s being real about it. Parenting is a huge commitment, and it’s wise to think it through.”
“I love when a person knows they’re not suited for parenthood for whatever reason and chooses to be responsible and not have kids. The world would be a much better place if more people were like this,” another said.
It may be easier for Garfield to have a child at a later stage in his life but his honesty about parenthood and the responsibility that comes with it is hugely refreshing.
