I went to the gym this week for the first time in a very long time.
It takes a lot for me to summon up the motivation to get myself on a treadmill… even if it’s only for ten minutes. And there’s only one reason I went – London 2012!
Olympic fever has certainly gripped the nation, and indeed the world. I am by no means even close to what you would call ‘sporty’, but watching these amazing hardworking athletes has made me think: ‘I could do that.‘
Turns out I really can’t… but at least it’s inspired me to exercise.
In fact, gyms this week around the UK have had an influx of new memberships, although I’m sure many are disillusioned people like myself.
I did, however, get my hands on some Olympic gold medals this week! One belonged to Team GB Heptathlete Jess Ennis and the other belonged to Team US swimmer Alison Scmidt. Four years of grueling hard work represented in those shiny palm sized coins.

These women are such inspirations, and it was a total honour to get to meet them. You forget they are just normal women who have been turned into rockstars overnight, but the one thing that struck me was just how humble and modest they were.

Speaking of inspirational women, I watched Katie Taylor beat Team GB’s Natasha Jonas in the Women’s boxing quarter-final on Monday. The support Katie had from her home country was unbelievable, the hair stood on the back of my neck as we screamed for my fellow Bray Native in London’s Excel centre. Apparently we broke the record of being the loudest crowd in the centre EVER!

And from sport to fashion… I’ve recently come across this quirky designer label called the Rodnik Band, with Philip Colbert at the helm. Philip is best known for putting the stunning Sienna Miller in boho scarf dresses in the 90’s (remember those?!).
Well, now he’s done one better with his new collection. I recently wore a POSTBOX dress to present with Joe Swash at the nickelodeon awards. Not your average dress but very fun to wear!
