Little Mix respond to claims they copied G.R.L’s song

The girls are not impressed with the claims.

Little Mix debuted their long awaited track Shout Out To My Ex recently on the X Factor. While fans were delighted to hear the girls' new song, many of them quickly pointed out that it was very similar to G.R.L's song Ugly Heart. Even G.R.L themselves sent a tweet out in relation to the similarities.   Now Little Mix has responded to the claims that they copied Ugly Heart. The girls were asked about it during an interview with Belgian radio station Qmusic,

“’We’re actually friends with Emmalyn from GRL and she loves the song. “Every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics and melodies – it happens all the time. It doesn’t mean that they’re not both incredible songs.” Jade said according to the Sun. She added: “I think maybe because it was a girl band as well, I just think people like to have something negative to say.”

Perrie then added her thoughts on the matter:

 '‘I just think, stop trying to hop on the bandwagon.’'

Jesy echoed Perrie's comments adding: “Stop trying to get publicity.” The song has received a lot of attention so far, and not just for the plagiarism claims. Perrie's lyrics had been widely discussed as they seem to be about her time with Zayn Malik.
