Liam Payne Opens Up About “Pretty Bad” Drinking Problem

It's been a dramatic year for One Direction.  Babies, breakups and the announcement that they will take a break, have meant that the boys haven't been far from the headlines. Now Liam has opened up about some of the pressures of being in the spotlight, including his dependancy on alcohol. Liam is currently on tour with One Direction. Speaking to Attitude magazine, the 22-year-old revealed that he used alcohol as an escape. He said: "I'm not afraid to say that I actually went through a pretty bad drinking stage. "And for that time in my life, that was perfect for me. I mean, you're away from home and that can get hard. "Also there were a lot of things on my mind and that's what helped me through." One Direction recently announced they will take a break.  Liam, who was voted Attitude's Sexiest Man of the Year, added that he is much happier having ditched the habit: "I feel good to be out of that zone and be more concentrated. "There were a just a few times that I went over the limit with things and then I had to pull it back."
