Singer, Kylie Minogue has opened up about her harrowing breast cancer diagnosis and how it’s something she will never forget.

The singer was discussing the health scare during an interview with Seth Doane.

Kylie explained that you need to move on from the diagnosis and get on with your day-to-day life.

“You have to get on, you have to get on with stuff, but…” she said before choking up.

The interviewer then asked her if this was the fear coming through.

She then explained that you carry the trauma with you, even after you’re given the all-clear.

“It’s trauma and any trauma resides within you,” she said.

“The experience of a cancer diagnosis will live in me. It was difficult. It was also amazing,” she said.

Kylie said that being diagnosed with cancer makes you so much more aware of your body.

She said: “Amazing in that you are very aware of your body, of the love that’s around you, of your capability, all sorts of things.”

Kylie said she struggled to put herself first throughout her life, but her cancer diagnosis made her realise that there isn’t anything selfish about that.

During a 2014 interview, the singer explained that you need to prioritise yourself first when you’re dealing with such a serious illness.

She said: “You need to be a little bit selfish.”

“‘It’s not in my nature to be selfish but now is the time to do that. Let people take care of you. And… that’s what I did,” Kylie said.

The singer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, but she was given the all-clear in 2006.

She underwent surgery and then had chemotherapy for months.
