‘I just broke down crying’ – Love Island’s Zara reveals being viciously attacked by online trolls

Zara McDermott has revealed she recently received an onslaught of abusive comments online.

In a interview this week, the star admitted that Love Island left her with self-esteem issues and problems with online trolls calling her "fat" and poking fun at her insecurities. Speaking to the Daily Star, the 21-year-old admitted to breaking down crying due to the level of abuse she was receiving online. She said:

“I went on to Love Island happy, confident in my own skin and thought I would be fine. “But you get so much online abuse where people constantly pick on your weight, your looks, your boobs, everything about you. “If enough people say you’re fat or need surgery, you can’t help but believe them."

Continuing she said:

"I now look at myself and think I should lose weight or get something changed. “It really gets me down. I posted a picture of me and Adam on a beach and the level of abuse about my body was insane. I just broke down crying.”

Zara admitted that she thought she would be able to handle any comments thrown her way, however, when they begin to fly into her inbox, she revealed it's a lot harder than you think. “People say and post the most vile things about you. They make up complete lies, which you can’t control" the star added. Zara is currently still dating Love Island co-star, Adam Collard and the pair spent the weekend in Birmingham together where they met fans and enjoyed some much-needed downtime.
