Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck on wedding anniversary

'Bennifer' is no more

The Hollywood couple, who were dubbed 'Bennifer', married in Las Vegas in 2022, almost 20 years after they called off their first engagement together.

But Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, exactly two years from their wedding ceremony, which took place a month after they got married in Vegas.

TMZ reports that court documents list the date of the couple's separation as April 26th this year and there is no prenuptial agreement.

Lopez and Affleck first met on the set of their romcom Gigli, and got engaged in 2002. However, the couple called off the wedding "due to excessive media attention" in 2003, and announced they had split up in 2004.

After almost 20 years apart, during which time both went on to get married again and have children with different partners, the pair announced they had rekindled their romance in 2022, after months of rumours that one of Hollywood's greatest power couples might be back together.

It wasn't long before they announced their engagement.

The couple had two weddings in 2022, the first of which at A Little Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas where they stood in line for their licence with four other couples, Sky News reports.

This was followed by a much grander wedding at Affleck's house a month later.

However, for the last few months, rumours have swirled that the pair may have split again.

In May, Lopez was asked about the rumours at a press conference for her Netflix film Atlas.

She told the reporter who asked the question: "You know better than that."

Lopez is a singer and actress, who has had hits such as On the Floor, Jenny from the Block and Let's Get Loud, whilst also having starred in films including  Out Of Sight, Maid In Manhattan, and Hustlers.

Meanwhile, Affleck is an actor, producer and writer known for his work on Oscar-winning films Argo and Good Will Hunting.
