Imelda May is unrecognisable without her trademark hairstyle

Anyone spot Imelda May around town recently? Well, chances are you could have been right beside her and not even known. There are some people who stand out for their unique dress sense and then there are others who make a statement with their choice of hairstyle and Imelda May is definitely one of them. Since she exploded onto the music scene she has always had a specific type of hair style which features a blonde quiff on her jet black hair. She usually compliments it with her choice of retro-inspired colourful dresses. But now she's looking very different after ditching her signature look. She popped into Dublin hair salon Dylan Bradshaw to change things up opting for a more subtle casual hair style. She really is unrecognisable.

The mum of one split from her husband, Darrel Higham, last July and is currently working on an album which she says is about her life. Speaking to The Sun she said:

"The album is about my life and what I’ve experienced recently. "The songs are more honest than anything before. I’ve gone through friendship, divorce, falling in love again, falling out of love again. "I’ve had a rollercoaster year and I am still in the middle of it. "So there are breaking up songs, falling in love songs. It’s life. I like detail, if you write about something you haven’t had experience of, you miss the little details that make it ring true."

She added that Bono helped with the album saying:

"Bono has been like a mentor with this record. So he’s been hounding T Bone about me. They know each other well, so it’s quite funny. He’s like ‘Jeez, will you get Bono off my back? I’m gonna have to get this album just right now’."
