Actor Richard Gere called a woman he met for the first time on the street 'an angel', after she offered him food not realising he was playing the role of a homeless man for a new film.
The generous woman, who didn't recognise the Hollywood star, brought Gere pizza on the set near Grand Central Terminal.
Director Oren Moverman, said the actor was extremely moved by the act, and in turn gave the food gift to crew members on the set of his new movie
Time Out of Mind:
“He was very touched . . . He said, ‘Ya know, she was like an angel’. He was in character, so obviously he was feeling like a guy who lives on the street.
“When she came over, he said he felt like an angel gave him a gift."
Gere, who has been living in character unnoticed in the city, also rode the subway in costume, but has felt 'almost anonymous' since adopting his homeless role.
